MourariART

Why do we exist?

At MourariArt, we believe that creative arts have the power to transform lives, strengthen connections, and foster more inclusive communities. Over two years of piloting MourariUP, we identified a pressing need for specialized support for migrant artists and creatives linked to Mouraria—those living, working, studying, or using the neighborhood’s public spaces.

How do we work?

We place the voices and stories of Mouraria’s migrant communities at the heart of everything we do. By leveraging the unique capacities of art, we aim to enrich learning experiences, diversify approaches to community building, and challenge stereotypes and narratives about urban spaces. Each year, we focus on a unifying theme to guide our efforts and ensure cohesive programming.

In 2025, our inaugural year, MourariArt’s core activities will emphasize strengthening connections between Mouraria’s residents and their surroundings, while crafting new, meaningful narratives about the neighborhood as a vibrant urban space.

What We Offer

Through our artistic and cultural projects, we not only uplift local residents but also invite visitors to experience the transformative impact of art, celebrating cultural diversity and the strength of community connections.

  • Consultancy sessions tailored to support migrant artists in navigating challenges and opportunities.

  • An Art Commission for reimagining Mouraria as a dynamic and inclusive urban space.
