Paula Erber
I am Paula Erber, a Brazilian from Rio de Janeiro, and I came to Lisbon in 2014 with the purpose of studying jewelry design. I arrived prepared for a period of adaptation, but I consider that I had a very positive experience and felt welcomed. I was happy in Rio de Janeiro, and I am happy in Lisbon.
I am a visual artist and art educator. I work with various techniques, from printmaking and woodcut to artisanal photography, always maintaining a connection between art, education, and community. Whenever I have an exhibition, if the space allows, I also organize an art workshop or another artistic activity. I greatly enjoy exploring musical themes and often invite musicians to participate in my exhibitions, creating more comprehensive and interactive experiences.
Today, I recognize art and education as powerful tools for social transformation. I enjoy working with communities through workshops that invite reflection on their surroundings and the broader world. In every print I create, every exhibition I organize, and every workshop I conduct, bridges are built connecting people, cultures, and memories. My work is an invitation to look beyond what is visible, to understand our own humanity through art and creativity.
Together with my sister, I also created Pechinchas da Graça, a collective marketplace for exchanging and selling goods that also serves as a space for connection, sharing, and celebration in a safe environment of cultural and emotional exchange. My goal for the future is to continue developing my project Portugal Sentimental and bring my exhibitions to diverse cultural spaces, always focused on the essential relationship between art, education, and community.
